Virtual Tree Tour Videos

Riverview Tree Tour with Douglas Justice

On September 17, 2023, Douglas Justice—Associate Director of the UBC Botanical Gardens—guided a well-attended Riverview Tree Walk. If you missed this remarkable event, you can catch the highlights in this video by Camera Jamie. BC Housing plans to impose more than $800 per walk in ā€œadministrative fees and permits,ā€ making it difficult for RHCS to continue offering these experiences. RHCS has long provided free, expert-led educational walks for the public throughout the historic and extraordinary sumiqwuela/Riverview Lands in the heart of Coquitlam, BC. These treasured lands—and their irreplaceable arboretum—now face severe risk from redevelopment. Public awareness is urgently needed, as the future of this unique cultural and ecological site depends on whether the BC government chooses to protect it before it is lost forever.
